Checkmate
Exodus 14:10-12 (NIV)
Checkmate is a game position in chess whereby there is an attack on a chess opponent’s “king” in such a manner that no escape or defense is possible, thus ending the game.
The Israelites were happy when they left Egypt however when in the desert they started murmuring when they were stretched. They started blaming Moses for their problems and forgot about the goodness of God. The devil had declared a ‘checkmate’ on them and they gave in to the spirit of complaining and blaming.
Where are you in your life? Is the enemy trying to tell you that you have no more moves? When the devil tries to ‘checkmate’ you, do not give up because Jesus has the final word and he will make the final move. In the kingdom of God we have grace and this does not exist in a chess game. In such situations always remember God’s goodness as he makes a way where there seems to be no way.
